5 Simple Interview Tips to Make a Great Impression on Recruiters

Finding a job has never been an easy task.

You need more than your skills in order to persuade the employer that you are the right fit for the respective position.

In fact, many companies nowadays try to trip up potential candidates in an effort to see how they respond to pressure and adversity.

(Check out these trick questions for more information.)

Does this sound like you?

Some candidates attend numerous interviews but still find it hard to convince the interviewer; leaving each with the confused state of mind - where am I lacking?

And, you have to stay enthusiastic, positive and upbeat through each interview (!)

Here are some job interview tips to help alleviate some of the stress:

1. Practice & Prepare

Practice for interview questions beforehand and plan your responses accordingly.

The easiest way to highlight your skills is to give concrete examples and match them to your experience.

Also have a list of your own questions to ask the employer.

2. Know the Hiring Company

This may seem obvious, but sometimes potential candidates show up to an interview knowing little about the company.

One of the first questions an employer might ask is - what do you know about our company and why are you interested in joining us?

Being unable to answer these questions may give a negative impression.

3. Get Ready Ahead of Time

Don’t wait till the last minute to print extra copies of your CV, to pick out an interview outfit, or to find a diary and pen.

Have everything prepared the night before.

Be on time for the interview (10-15 minutes early), giving yourself a little time to check your outfit, visit the restroom, and calm your nerves.

4. Tell Them What You Know

When answering questions or discussing your career accomplishments, relate them to what the company is looking for.

Use live examples about your previous/current company to convince them about your skills and how good you are at handling the responsibilities.

5. Follow Up

Last but not the least, always follow-up with a thank you note, repeating your interest in the position even if you do not get the job.

Your interviewer will appreciate this and may give you another chance if a job opportunity comes up in the future.

Summary

The key to effective interviewing is to stay positive, project confidence, and to be able to share your skills for the given position.

Brush up your communication skills, so you can put across your thoughts clearly and concisely and show the assets you have to offer the employer.

In this era of cut-throat competition, getting a job is tough.

However, with some advance research, preparation and practice, you’ll be able to nail the interview and showcase the experience that makes you the ideal candidate for the company.
