We all hit that point in our lives where we are unhappy in our job and are ready for a change.
But we tend to assume that we want to stick in a similar role (usually earning more) but at a different company… so we might start perusing industry websites for vacancies that fit the bill.
However, it might not just be the company you are working for!
It could be the entire industry!
It might be time for a career change.
Keep reading to find out more.
Reason One: You just don’t enjoy it anymore 👎
If it’s getting to the point where you have to literally drag yourself into work – even though you actually get on well with people there - this could be a sign that you are in need of a career change.
Now, don’t get me wrong we will all have those days where we simply cannot be bothered with work.
It’s only natural, and we are all humans at the end of the day.
But, if you have lost purpose and passion for the role that you are in and you dread the day-to-day tasks that you are doing and don’t even enjoy them in the slightest… perhaps it’s time to rethink things?
Your happiness is the most important thing.
And sticking out a bad career isn’t going to help anyone.
You’ll be less productive and bring the morale down.
Sometimes, financial incentives are simply not enough…
Reason Two: You are only there for the money 💰
We all work in order to live, that is a fact.
However, if it gets to the point when the only reason you are still there is because of the money, something has gone array.
Life is too short to hate your job – and no amount of money can outweigh the negative effects of an unhappy life.
Now you may be panicking and thinking, well “I can’t just leave without a job lined up”.
I am not suggesting that you do so, but if your heart is not in the job, then plan for a career change!
Take some online courses if necessary and start afresh. It’s never too late.
You need personal satisfaction, and if you are not getting that regardless of the money then it is time for a new career.
Reason Three: You are struggling to keep up 📉
Do you find yourself really struggling to keep up with the other people in your team or company?
Are you just not very good at the job?
Or is it simply too much work for you?
Perhaps you’re struggling for personal reasons, or maybe the workload is just overwhelming…
Some jobs are just like that I’m afraid!
And by changing companies but remaining in the same job role you will eventually end up with the same problem reoccurring.
If you’ve worked for a few different companies and experienced these issues, then you’ll know it’s the career and not the company.
Don’t let your career ruin your work-life balance…
Reason Four: It’s throwing you off balance. ⚖
We all have those Sunday night ‘blues’ but if you are experiencing them every week then this could be impacting your life in a more negative way than you may think.
It can make you feel anxious, depressed and anxious.
These are all risks of the corporate world and it’s really important that you don’t just ignore them.
If you constantly feel off balance, then it may well be time to look for a new career.
Time for a change
The point is – life is short. Try and make the most of it!
The thought of changing career completely is really daunting. But if it makes you happier in the long run, it is 100% worth it.
